Living in the moment sometimes seems an impossible task. Don't let the past weigh you down but also try to keep the future from keeping you from focusing on the wonder that is around you. Now if only I could heed my own words. I spend a lot of time planning for what is coming and don't take advantage of the moments that happen on the spur of the moment. That is where the beauty lies - in the moment.
This was such a great find on one of our walks lately. We were at a large park in Kansas and just came upon this mushroom cluster. I was drawn in by the shape of the grouping (kinda heartish) and how tightly packed they are. I love to find the beauty in the mundane or, in this case, in something that most times would be viewed as needing to be dug up and thrown away. This is more inspiration to me to slow down and look around for little bits of the divine everywhere.
We have spent a lot of time in Wichita, KS in the last few weeks and so took advantage of some of the attractions. We took a couple of trips to the Sedgwick County Zoo and were there at exactly the right time to see this mama goose adjusting her eggs. The weather was beautiful and she seemed very relaxed. It was a wonderful sight to see. Happy Spring everyone!

The beginning of this year has been a rough one for our family (and some good friends too). If death truly comes in threes, we have surpassed our limit. The one good thing about going through a hard time is that it makes you introspective and rethink what is truly important. It helps you to clean out mental cobwebs (and physical ones too). You take what you have learned about yourself and learn to move out of your rut and make life as meaningful as you possible can. Of course, true change takes time and works best just one step at a time.
You have just got to check out this new online magazine entitled Nonpareil. The designers are on Twitter too: @nonpareilmag) The pictures are just beautiful and the ideas are great. Lots of how-to's and projects included. It is pretty girly but lots of fun. Pieces like this make me want to work on my photography skills. Yeah, I'll put that on my list too.
